Life is (largely) an Execution Challenge!

Life is (largely) an Execution Challenge!

Not everything needs bleeding edge innovation. Sometimes, battle-tested stuff works best.

A client of mine came back from a Harvard Business School (HBS) leadership development program the other day. I quizzed her on the topics that were discussed, and what surprised me is not that the same professors are still around that have shaped the way managers think about business over the last decades. But that those taught frameworks and techniques are also largely the same – just with more updated case studies.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But let that sink in for a moment: We still learn the same battle-tested techniques in leading (business) schools, using mostly practices that have been invented 20, 30 years or longer ago. So, do we really ‘learn’ them, or merely ‘observe’ them?

What that actually tells me (being a glass half-full person): It’s rarely about coming up with new cutting edge ‘stuff’, BUT rather applying the knowledge we theoretically know already, just getting a lot better at executing on it. If we are honest to ourselves, few situations actually require new, breakthrough innovations. Most situation just need more discipline in applying the ones we already know. This is certainly true in an enterprise and business context, but surprisingly also in private life.

Apologies, but this has been a rather long-winded intro to why Wolfram and I decided to write a book about a topic that is close to our productivity-optimizing heart:

Using proven ideas from the Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) corporate world but applying them in your personal space – not as an isolated framework, but as part of an integrated method that starts with discovering your life’s Mission, using OKRs to drive your personal Strategy, all the way down to Execution-level details - wired into your day-to-day life.

And it doesn’t matter if we talk about personal finance, your family, health or your career. We got you covered!

So instead of claiming that we reinvent the wheel and came up with some revolutionary new thing, we picked and chose good practices from our combined 60 years of professional consulting experience and merged it into something that will do wonders to your private life. Pragmatic, pre-configured, with a build-in improvement mechanism. A LifeOS if you will.

Sounds like something that you might find interesting? Let’s stay in touch then and we’ll be back with more in due course!
